The new 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 generated a lot of excitement in the auto industry when it was released in late 2020. Now the auto industry is buzzing again with the latest announcement regarding the Mercedes-Benz GLB because the GLB is getting an AMG® version this year! The 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG® GLB 35 was debuted in September during the Frankfurt Motor Show and it will be released in the United States towards the end of this year. We may have to wait until the end of the year to get one here at Mercedes-Benz of Brooklyn, but since the model was already released internationally we know all the details and they are quite impressive. Let’s take a closer look at what we already know about the upcoming 2021 Mercedes AMG® GLB 35.

As we have all come to expect, the AMG® GLB 35 comes with AMG® specific performance, designs, and technology exclusively reserved for this limited edition model. The AMG® GLB 35 comes with a 2.0L, 4-cylinder, twin turbo engine that makes 302 horsepower, which is over 80 horsepower more than the standard GLB 250. The engine is paired to an 8-speed, dual-clutch transmission that is perfectly engineered for responsive and smooth shifting while maximizing efficiency. Both the GLB 250 and the AMG® GLB 35 come with DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes, but the AMG® GLB 35 has AMG® specific driving modes. The five AMG® DYNAMIC SELECT drive modes include Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual, plus an all-new Race Start function. The additional Race Start function adjusts the powertrain to give you optimal acceleration and traction. With Race Start engaged, the AMG® GLB 35 will do 0 to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds.

The suspension system of the AMG® GLB 35 has been redesigned specifically for this model. You can race through winding curves, take long road trips, or even go off-road with the 4MATIC® all-wheel drive system, and experience the same levels of comfort, traction, torque, and speed. No matter where you take your AMG® GLB 35, you will have full control with speed-sensitive power steering and air-ride suspension that is adjusted with your selected drive mode for maximum performance. The versatility, capability, and overall performance of the AMG® GLB 35 make it an absolute joy to drive and we expect it to be very popular.

The AMG® exclusive upgrades continue through the exterior and interior. The exterior of the AMG® GLB 35 features a plethora of AMG® styling. Exterior styling updates include 19-inch, twin spoke wheels, added roof spoiler, AMG®-specific front grille, newly remodeled front splitter, newly designed rear apron, and dual exhaust. The overall design of the AMG® GLB 35 is sportier, more aggressive, but still follows traditional Mercedes-Benz SUV styling. The AMG® GLB 35 is unmistakable from any angle.

There is even more AMG® exclusive designs in the interior of the AMG® GLB 35 for us to enjoy. The MBUX Infotainment system comes with AMG® specific displays for controlling the entertainment, performance, and more. The MBUX system can be controlled on a 10.25-inch touchscreen, with steering wheel controls, or with dynamic voice commands. The instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen are one seamless display that pairs two, 10.25 digital displays together. You can customize the instrument cluster giving it a personalize look and feel. The AMG® GLB 35 comes with optional 7-passenger seating just like the GLB 350, however, the AMG® model comes with MB-Tex / DINAMICA microfiber seating that feature red stitching and red seat belts. You do have the option to upgrade to one of two leather seating options. The interior of the AMG® GLB 35 is a perfect mix of feeling like you’re in a race car and a functional SUV at the same time.
